The year is quickly coming to an end! There are only two days left until summer vacation! Finals are finishing up today, and students will work on checking out of their classes tomorrow.

Thanks for all your hard work this year! Hopefully next year will be even better than this one! Have a great summer!

Midterms

Midterms are this week! Progress reports are coming out in preparation for PCCR day next week. Double check SIS to make sure all your assignments are in!

7th graders are starting their work with multistep equations. They have been working hard on learning how to simplify expressions and learn the properties of addition and multiplication.

Sophomores are starting their work with probability and statistics. This is good news for some of them. Sometimes probability and statistics is easier to grasp than math.

Links for Homework

The Math 7 homework links are now up and running. Internet Explorer doesn't like them, so in order to access the homework, you will need to use Firefox or Chrome. I haven't tested any other browsers, so it's possible one of them might work. If for some reason the link doesn't work, try a different browser.

All the 7th graders know how to access their homework. If you notice your student has a missing assignment in math, he or she should know how to get to it to get it done. As always, they can also ask me to make a copy for them. I'm happy to do that, but this allows them to get it in their time, not my time.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Raiders!

This new year will hopefully bring many positive changes to math classes. Intervention students are now working with ALEKS to help them progress more rapidly and get the extra help they need with the things they don't understand.

7th graders are learning how to write and simplify algebraic expressions. They recently learned the meaning of term, constant, coefficient, and like terms. They are using this knowledge to help them with expressions and equations.

Sophomores recently learned how to identify an expression or function that is "quadratic in nature" meaning it acts like a quadratic function but is not a quadratic function. They learned to factor these expressions.

With the new year, I am hoping to start putting virtual copies of assignments on this blog so students can print them off at home. Stay tuned for those. They will be found under the tab corresponding to their math class.
